Shameeda Mohammed is a Project Coordinator at AllertonFox Construction. A native of Trinidad & Tobago, she graduated at the top of her class in Business Management and was selected for her first job at one of the country’s most reputable banks.  However, she instead opted for a position at a prominent law firm.  Shortly thereafter, she migrated to the US and secured a position at a Wall Street law firm.  Working in direct coordination with 4 attorneys and proximity of 10 attorneys, she pursued her career as a Paralegal.  After dedicating approximately 8 years in the legal field, she took a break to focus on her family and herself. This was short-lived as she would soon receive a call from a colleague offering her an immediate position after landing a contract for the prestigious David Barton’s TMPL Gym. It was during this project, she was introduced to the AFC Team and worked together in creating and completing a state-of-the-art gym facility in New York City.

With over 20 years of experience and an extensive background in Paralegal studies and Business Management she effectively oversees the streamlining of all contracts and insurance related items at AllertonFox Construction.  Her professionalism and ability to effectively communicate with all levels within an organization combined with her meticulous attention to details, places her at the foreground of all projects undertaken by the company.  Notably, some of the bigger projects she has worked on includes:

Montefiore Nyack Hospital Expansion Project (Multiple projects)
Pascack Valley Hospital
Vera Wang Project,
David Barton TMPL Gym
R2Net Build Out

Outside of the office, Shameeda volunteers her time to various charitable organizations.  She loves cooking, reading and the outdoors- especially the beaches.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and how has it helped you in your career?

When seeking answers to any issues, if the person you are reaching out to can’t provide the answers, ask to be referred to someone who can provide you with answers.  This has been the most important bit of advice I ever received and have implemented this in role at AllertonFox Construction to maximize efficiency.

What’s your favorite part of a construction project and why?

My favorite part of the construction project is attending the weekly on-site meetings with the entire design team and trade contractors and seeing the project progression.

Do you have a favorite project you’ve ever been a part of and why?

David Barton TMPL Gym was a fascinating and unique project to work on.  It’s considered my favorite as it was the breakthrough to my career in construction.

If you could build anything, with no budget or constraints, what would you build and why?

If I had an opportunity to build anything with no budget or constraints, I would build an orphanage to provide less fortunate kids an opportunity of having a home, education and a “family like” atmosphere for them.
